BETWEEN COOKING AND DRAWING CREATIVITY EXPANDS
“Creativity is contagious, pass it.”
A.Einstein
One of Albert Einstein’s famous quote and it’s a source of inspiration to me. Here at the Vallì’s house, between cooking and drawing creativity expands.
I strongly believe that creativity is within each of us… sometimes it is clearly visible in the front row and others is hidden… It seems we don’t have it or we just forgot it but maybe it’s there, in a corner, waiting to be seen…
For better or for worse I believe that this quarantine and this moment of forced blockage are giving us the opportunity to dwell and understand the importance of small things and gestures… I believe they are giving us the opportunity to turn attention to which are the really important things in life… From now on nothing will be taken for granted… just simply getting up in the morning and leaving the house, lunches with friends and loved ones…
everything will have a new flavor.
I think this quarantine is giving us the opportunity to dust off sides of us and passions that we had buried for lack of time. Because, let’s face it, in recent years, like Alice in Wonderland’s White Rabbit, we used to run the time to the rhythm of “It’s late… It’s late… It’s LATE”. Now that we finally time, we can rediscover the dormant creativity and the forgotten ingenuity… in every area of our life… there are those who are doing it in the kitchen: turning out breads and pizzas, trying to prepare dishes that they never had the time to do before… who in his own business: changing his direction in the race to explore new paths and new ideas… and who in art.
So that it was for Dave.
For those who do not know him, Dave, is the fearless taster of my experiments, the assistant during the cooking time, the supporer and bearer of my artistic raptus and my crazy ideas, the companion of life and adventures, as well the father of the our cat Spillo.
From the side of the Boutique Store Manager which he is, thanks to these days he found himself magically catapulted into a world that he had almost forgotten: perhaps due to fears, or due to the word of mouth that art and creativity don’t lead anywhere.
So finally that talent that he had since childhood, remained there in the corner for years, had the opportunity to wake up and re-emerge… so from a simple white sheet and a pen…
Dave did the magic…
He impressed emotions and memories on that piece of paper through his personal interpretation of the Walt Disney characters.
This special day, the World Creativity and Innovation Day (#WCID) officially marks the beginning of his artistic journey. To celebrate it I decided to prepare his favorite sugar-free cookies and I opted for a shape that paid homage to his art. Since, as most of the time it happens to me, I don’t have the right cookie cutter or other particular tools, I let creativity take its course and find the solution…
Walt Disney always said: “If you can dream it, you can do it”… so finally here they are, my Mickey Mouse cookie made with love…
Toi Toi Toi Dave!!
To creativity!
